L. Thomas Tobin
Senior Advisor
Tom Tobin is GHI's Senior Advisor. Tom has worked on natural hazards and risk management problems for more than 40 years and possesses technical expertise in geotechnical and coastal engineering. He is president of the Earthquake Engineering Research Institute. Prior to joining the staff of GHI, Tom served as executive director of the California Seismic Commission from 1985-1995. He holds an M.S. in Geotechnical Engineering from California State University at San Jose and a B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of California at Berkeley.
